Transforming Four Chairs for Café Z am Park

Classics with a special "homey" touch

For Café Z am Park’s Take-a-Seat-project, four Horgenglarus chairs were to be interpreted and designed anew. In my view, this Swiss classic, a mass product reduced to pure form, is descended directly from peasant furniture. With decorations that were inspired by traditional farmhouse chairs, I made this affinity between the tradition of the decorative crafts and industrial production visible. Even modernism sometimes feels homesick.
